Partnership demonstrates OSJL’s commitment to the health and well-being of associates

Ocean State Job Lot, the region’s premier discount retail chain with 147 stores across the Northeast, is pleased to announce a collaboration with Care New England (CNE) in the launch of ‘CNE Express Care’ at OSJL’s distribution center in North Kingstown.

The Express Care features on-site, on-demand care for the more than 500 OSJL associates working in the 1.2 million square foot distribution center as well as the 350 OSJL associates in its corporate headquarters. The facility will offer a physician assistant and bi-lingual registered nurse, as well as a telehealth room that can connect associates to Care New England providers at any time, day or night, to accommodate associates who work early mornings or late evenings.

“A huge part of Ocean State Job Lot’s culture is focused on creating and maintaining a healthy, productive workplace,” said Marc Perlman, Co-founder and CEO, Ocean State Job Lot. “Over the years, we have successfully evolved our culture to reinforce the importance of our associates’ health and wellbeing. Many of our distribution center associates work early mornings or late evenings depending on their shift, and we want to ensure that they have access to quality medical care when they need it.”

Local dignitaries including Representative Julie Casimiro gathered with Marc Perlman, Ocean State Job Lot Co-founder and CEO, and Bryan Liese, Chief Operating Officer, Care New England Medical Group, to officially unveil the CNE Express Care and cut a celebratory ribbon.

“Care New England is excited to support Ocean State Job Lot’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of its associates by offering them high quality, on-demand care and enhanced access to our network of primary care and specialist providers to help keep them well,” said Bryan Liese, Chief Operating Officer, Care New England Medical Group.

During the event, a flu-vaccine clinic was held in CNE Express Care for OSJL associates and family members who wished to receive it, and flu shots are being made available throughout the season. In addition, associates were able to sign up to donate blood through the Rhode Island Blood Center, learn about the national stem cell/bone marrow registry through Be The Match, speak with representatives from Delta Dental, and learn about mental health support offerings as well as Accolade, OSJL’s company-paid healthcare concierge.
