Emilia Vaziri Nominated for Cranston City Council, after Resignation of Jessica Marino
After the resignation of Cranston City Council President Jessica Marino, and the appointment of Councilman Dan Wall to serve as President, a nominee to complete Marino’s term as a citywide City Councilor was needed. Yesterday, the Cranston Democratic Party announced the nomination of Emilia Vaziri to fill that vacancy.
Vaziri, 26, a lifelong Cranston resident, is a Marketing Specialist for Ocean State Job Lot, a large regional corporation based in North Kingstown, RI. A graduate of URI/RIC in marketing, Vaziri’s announcement has an MBA in marketing from the University of Rhode Island. She is also a graduate of Cranston West High School. She is also the Founder and Marketing Leader of Verto Consulting Firm, working with small businesses and organizations.
Vaziri’s local political and civic background includes serving as the inaugural Vice Chairwoman of the Young Democrats of Cranston and as the Recording Secretary of the Cranston Democratic City Committee. She mentored Cranston youth as a head coach in cross country, track, and volleyball, guiding multiple teams to championships and state recognition.
According to her LinkedIn profile she has been with Job Lot for approximately 3 year and describes her role as: “Marketing Specialist on the HR & Stores team, I support the strategy, execution, and optimization of HR-focused campaigns and store-specific marketing initiatives…” As founder of Verto Marketing (since 2019), her role she describes as: “We spearhead comprehensive digital solutions, including website design, social media management, Google Ads, and logo/photography services. I successfully deliver tailored digital strategies that enhance client online presence and market reach, notably growing the customer base by 40% across diverse market segments through targeted digital initiatives.”
Maria Bucci, Chairwoman of the Cranston Democratic Party, said about Jessica Marino: “Jessica Marino was a phenomenal councilwoman who raised the bar for leadership in Cranston. Her dedication, intellect, and tireless service made an indelible mark on our city. We are so grateful for her years of extraordinary public service.” Bucci continued about Emilia Vaziri: “In Emilia Vaziri, we see a leader who embodies the same drive, integrity, and commitment to Cranston’s future. Emilia is young, dynamic, and deeply rooted in our community. We are confident she will carry Jessica’s legacy forward while bringing fresh energy and new ideas to the council.”
Both Cranston City Council President Jessica Marino and Attorney Stephen Angell resigned less than 2 weeks ago after their romantic relationship became known.
