Classic Yacht Parade Returns for the 47th Annual Newport Classic Yacht Regatta, presented by IYRS
Classic Yacht Parade Returns to Newport Harbor During the 47th Annual Newport Classic Yacht Regatta Presented by IYRS
IYRS School of Technology & Trades invites the public to experience one of Newport’s most beloved maritime traditions as the Classic Yacht Parade returns to Newport Harbor on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. as part of the 47th Annual Newport Classic Yacht Regatta presented by IYRS School of Technology & Trades as part of the CYOA Classic Yacht Challenge Series.
A highlight of regatta weekend, the parade will bring an impressive fleet of classic sail and motor yachts through Newport Harbor, offering spectators a rare opportunity to see historic vessels underway against the backdrop of one of the world’s premier sailing destinations. The parade will begin at the south end of Goat Island and proceed around Newport Harbor, passing the city’s iconic waterfront, including the wharves, IYRS, King Park, Ida Lewis Yacht Club, and Fort Adams.

Unlike the regatta races, participation in the parade is open to all classic boats, both power and sail, whether or not they are competing during the weekend. Organizers encourage owners and crews of classic yachts to join the procession and help celebrate the craftsmanship, history, and enduring legacy of these remarkable vessels.
“The Classic Yacht Parade is one of the most visible and inspiring moments of the weekend,” said IYRS VP of Advancement Liz Isdale. “It connects Newport’s rich maritime heritage with the craftsmanship and innovation that continue to define our waterfront community today.”
The parade is part of the 47th Annual Newport Classic Yacht Regatta, scheduled for September 5-6, 2026. Ida Lewis Yacht Club is the organizing authority for the regatta, with racing scheduled on both Saturday and Sunday. The weekend concludes with an Awards Ceremony and Cocktail Party at IYRS on Sunday evening that is open to the public.
Spectators can enjoy excellent viewing opportunities from Newport Harbor’s waterfront parks, public walkways, and the IYRS campus.
