Art, Culture & Book Signings – Meet you TODAY at the Scituate Art Festival – Mary T. O’Sullivan
By Mary T. O’Sullivan, MSOL
For artists and writers of all kinds, this Festival is the one that can’t be missed. Best of all, everything you see, hear and taste are all local to Rhode Island. Every year thousands flock to enjoy art, music, books, and food from the hands of their fellow Rhode Islanders.
This year, as in years past, the Authors Association of Rhode Island (ARIA) has a special and very appropriate place for their tents and tables. The ARIA members are located at the Scituate Town Library parking lot. It’s easy to find, 606 W Greenville Rd, North Scituate, right near the Village Green.
ARIA has several local authors selling their books and signing them on the spot. As for me, if you’ve already purchased your book, bring it to the Festival and I’ll sign it there. My book, The Leader You Don’t Want to Be: Transform Your Leadership Style from Command and Control to Transformational Visionary will be available for purchase for $20 cash and $25 credit. If you buy the companion Field Guide also, both books are $30.
This event is incredibly exciting for me, as this will be my very first live book signing. I’m so excited to be meeting my readers and speaking with you all in person. If you haven’t had a chance to learn about my book, it’s a collection of vignettes from my experiences working in Corporate America for 30+ years. In the book, I “tell all” about the good, the bad and the ugly side of work. My advice for leaders is simple, as Sir Richard Branson has said, “Treat your people the way you, yourself, want to be treated.” Too often that message is lost on today’s managers, especially with the stresses of a post-COVID world.
You also can take advantage of a complimentary consultation at your convenience. There will be a sign-up sheet for you at the table. I’m also giving away a free bookmark to go with your book. So, stop by, bring your favorite beverage, and let’s chat. I’ll be thrilled to see you there!
My next appearance will be November 4 at the R.I.S.E Women’s Leadership Conference at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Downtown Providence. I’ll have a booth there and will be selling my book and offering complimentary 30-minute coaching sessions at the conference. Sign-ups are requested. Doors to the Convention Center open at 7:00AM, so you can stop by before work.
It’s incredible what else you’ll find at the Scituate Arts Festival. There are even antiques to browse along with a food court and live music. I can’t wait to check out the original, juried, fine art, handmade crafts, sculpture, and other interesting finds in the open-air market today. There are over 200 exhibitors, so plan to spend the day. Most vendors take cash or credit. And, this being the last day, I’d bet there will be some deals to be had.
The Scituate Arts Festival is in its 55th year, and back stronger than ever after last year’s cancellation due to COVID. It’s also been recognized eight times for Best of Rhode Island by Rhode Island Monthly magazine, so you know it’s a winner.
The Scituate Art Festival opens at 10:00AM TODAY and closes at 5:00PM.
Come early and stay late. Early birds get the best finds, so be there at 10:00AM sharp – 554 W Greenville Road, in North Scituate.
