Your RI Weather, August 30, 2021 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Your Monday weather –
Frontal system passes through, with a hodgepodge of weather changes coming with it. Muggy conditions come back for a day with southwesterly flow and warmer more humid air on southwesterly winds gusting in the afternoon. A weak low level jetstream off shore encourages some showers for the southern coastal areas and islands along the resulting convergence zone, and also inland with heating of humid air and extra lift ahead of the cold front, so scattered showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two from afternoon to evening.
Some showers could stretch into the night as the frontal zone takes its time gathering its things and leaving. A sticky morning low around 70 with afternoon highs reaching into the mid 80’s.
