Wilderness First Aid, virtually, for the whole family
The RI DEM is hosting Virtual Wilderness First Aid on Tuesday, September 14th from 6 to 8pm.
This family-friendly event will present an overview of first-aid medical and trauma emergencies with some wilderness considerations. Perfect for families who hike, fish, or spend time outdoors where medical care may not be immediately available should an emergency arise.
This is a non-certification course taught by an EMT with 20 years’ experience who is also an outdoor education instructor. The course uses real-world outdoor examples of situations that might occur while hunting, hiking and fishing.
Test your skills with multiple-choice videos where emergencies are acted out for visual emphasis. Some topics covered include scene safety, anaphylaxis, hypothermia and hyperthermia, multi-trauma considerations and more.
Registration: Pre-registration required. A Zoom conference link will be sent out upon completion of registration.
