We remember… David Brussat, RINewsToday writer, Architecture Here and There
by Nancy Thomas, Founder and Publisher
David Brussat passed away this December, 2025. Since 2019 David contributed stories on architecture and design to RINewsToday – writing over 174 articles over the years.
David always looked up – whether it was at a roof line or the changing skyscape of Providence, David had opinions. The article he never wrote was about Newport Creamery in Garden City Center, and its closing. He said he would write about it, but the article never came. And now we know why.
David said, “My freelance writing and editing on architecture and others addresses issues of design and culture locally and globally. I am a member of the board of the New England chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, which bestowed an Arthur Ross Award on me in 2002. I work from Providence, R.I., where I live with my wife Victoria, my son Billy and our cat, Gato.”
Perhaps the best way to remember this gentlemanly professional and fine writer, is to provide you a link to all his stories. You can peruse them, HERE.
And we”ll end with the last story he did write – about the mansions in Newport – a review of Newport Cottages, by Michael C. Kathrens.
David will be missed.
A Celebration of Life will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center. You can read his obituary HERE.
