Warwick Synchro Medals in 2026 Colonial Classic Synchronized Skating Competition
Teams from Warwick Synchro earned medals at the 2026 Colonial Classic Synchronized Skating Competition at the Tsongas Center this weekend.
More than 115 teams from across the Northeast participated in the two-day event, with judges from across the United States officiating the competition. Synchronized skating is the fastest-growing discipline in figure skating. Skaters are assigned to teams based on age and skill level.

Warwick’s Open Juvenile Black team earned a bronze medal in a field of seven teams. The Aspire 1 and Aspire 2 teams earned their second gold medals of the season, while the Aspire 4 team earned a silver medal. Warwick’s Open Juvenile Blue team placed fourth and earned a pewter medal, while the Preliminary team placed eight.
“This was a challenging competition for our teams, but I’m proud of their continued commitment to one another throughout the ongoing rink closure,” said Kristine Wilkinson, head coach of Warwick Synchro. “Training under these conditions hasn’t been easy, but our teams have continued to push forward together. We are hopeful repairs to the Warburton Rink will be completed soon so we can adequately prepare for our final two competitions of the season.”
Due to the closure of one ice rink at the Warwick complex, team members are practicing at rinks throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts this season, significantly reducing overall practice time.
When reached about the rink situaton, Warwick Mayor Picozzi said, “The part that failed was ordered immediately, but it’s not a stocked item and it took a long time to get. The part came in a few weeks ago and the process of installation has begun. The rink should be open by the end of the month.”
Warwick Synchro’s Open Juvenile and Preliminary teams are scheduled to compete Jan. 14–17 at the 2026 Eastern Synchronized Skating Sectional at the Skating Club of Boston in Norwood, the qualifying event for the national championship in March.

Warwick Synchro is the only competitive synchronized skating program in Rhode Island and has fielded teams for more than 40 years, including sectional and national champions. The program is open to both experienced and new synchronized skaters and has produced international and world medalists.
