Ten Prime to transform to CUT 123, a new approach to Steak and Sushi: Chow Fun Food Group

Chow Fun Food Group Launching CUT 123 in Late Fall

Chow Fun Food Group is pleased to announce that it will open a brand new concept later this year, featuring a new approach to steak and sushi.

CUT 123, the latest concept from Chow Fun maestro John Elkhay, will replace Ten Prime Seafood at 123 Empire Street in Providence, which opened in the fall of 2025.

The first floor of CUT 123 will feature a fresh take on a traditional steakhouse menu that focuses on delicious, tender, and affordable beef: Certified Angus Top Sirloin.  Hand-butchered in house, guests will be able to enjoy three cuts – center cut sirloin, coulotte sirloin, and baseball cut sirloin – each aged for 28 days and complemented by traditional steakhouse sides.

The second floor will be home to a high-energy Japanese izakaya-style lounge serving sake, a large selection of shareable appetizers, and a menu of traditional and contemporary sushi.

The steakhouse and sushi menus will be available on both levels and a pre-theater bento box will be available for guests looking to sneak in a fantastic dinner before a show at Trinity Rep or Providence Performing Arts Center.

“Ten Prime Seafood is one of our most beautiful restaurants and I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved there,” said John Elkhay, maestro, Chow Fun Food Group.  “But, over the past year, we learned that it was the right restaurant but at the wrong time.  CUT 123 is meeting the moment, whether our guests are looking for a casual steak dinner, an elevated sushi experience, or a combination of both.  We want to provide an experience that balances unpretentious quality with an electric neighborhood vibe.”

Ten Prime Seafood will close its doors on October 25th. CUT 123 will open in November.
