Nuke attack PSA warning in NYC?

Did you guys catch the story that showed up on the “Dailymail.com” website the other day? I don’t know, seemed pretty important, yet no one has run with it. The International newspaper said, “NYC releases PSA about nuclear attack after Russian state media boasted Putin could wipe out the U.S East Coast”. Wait Whattt!??? Why isn’t this Breaking News!!??  I mean, one of the Kardashians farts and it’s breaking news for God’s sake. Yet somehow, planning for a nuke attack is not “Breaking News” worthy. Anyhow, in case this actually goes down, the public service announcement provides tips on what to do in case of an attack. Ready? 1.) Get inside. 2.) Stay inside. 3.) Stay tuned. What in the hell kind of tips are those?! Why even bother spending tax dollars on that crap PSA?!  I mean, truth be told, if that ever did happen, life as we know it ends, and sheer anarchy as we have never seen would take over. Our three branches of government go underground and leaves the rest of us up here to transition into the “Walking Dead”. Literally. So, a PSA about a nuke attack with no major media coverage and lame tips on what to do? Something stinks and it’s not Putin’s shorts. Stay tuned. We’ll see how this story unfolds over the next week. If in fact it does.

A Gem of Memory

The Woosox… it still pains us to say that… held Pawsox Heritage Day last weekend as a final goodbye. So far, the shiny new Polar Park is doing quite well. The Woosox… ugh, there it is again… rank number 3 in all of Minor League Baseball attendance with 310,395 fans having passed thru the turnstiles over the first 44 games. Area surrounding the ballpark is abuzz with construction, so it has attracted investment so far. Certainly, there’s a long way to go before it’s determined whether the $160 million dollar stadium will benefit Worcester and even pay for itself but at least there’s promise there… and vision. What a bitter taste it leaves to realize the final proposals from the Senate to the PawSox would have cost the state less than $35 million. The political throwdown among a bunch of former elected officials sank that deal and we lost a gem. And those elected officials who Pearl Harbored the deal? They scurried off to bigger and better things for them, personally, while the city of Pawtucket is left with scorched earth and dusty memories. What could have been? No… what SHOULD have been.

It runs in the family

First Lady Jill Biden is being slammed for remarks she made while addressing the 2022 Unidos US Annual Conference in Texas. Speaking on the Hispanic “Quest for Equity” not only did she mispronounce ‘bodegas’, but she also referred to the Latino community there “as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio.” Oh, my! The National Association of Hispanic Journalists slammed the remarks as “culturally inappropriate.” NAHJ saying in a statement “We are not tacos. NAHJ encourages Dr. Biden and her speech writing team to take the time in the future to better understand the complexities of our people and communities.”

Making a list and checking it twice

With inflation at a 40 year high and no end in sight in 2022, experts say NOW is a good time to shop for the holidays. SALESFORCE reports 37% more people will buy gifts earlier than usual because of inflation. Some 76% will spend at least as much as last summer. Right now, retailers have excess inventory and they’re putting lots of stuff on sale. Christmas in July? Hey, if it saves you a few bucks. Items you can score the biggest on include big ticket items, electronics and outdoor gear.
