35 Eagle Scouts from Rhode Island Honored at Recognition Dinner

35 Eagle Scouts from Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts were recognized and celebrated for their accomplishments during the 2026 Eagle Recognition Dinner held at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. The evening honored Scouts from Narragansett Council – Scouting Americawho earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout in 2025.

The event brought together Eagle Scouts, families, Scoutmasters, community leaders, and supporters for an evening dedicated to recognizing the hard work, leadership, and service demonstrated by this year’s class of Eagle Scouts. Guests enjoyed a reception, buffet dinner, dessert, and coffee, followed by a formal recognition program and keynote address.

In addition to celebrating the newest class of Eagle Scouts, the evening also highlighted Eagle Scouts who have gone on to achieve success in their professional and personal lives since earning Scouting’s highest rank.

The program also recognized participants in the Eagle Project of the Year competition, showcasing the meaningful community service projects completed by Scouts throughout the past year.

“Earning the rank of Eagle Scout represents years of dedication, leadership, and service to others, and tonight was about recognizing the incredible accomplishments of these young men and women,” said Scout Executive & CEO of Narragansett Council – Scouting America Tim McCandless. “We are proud to celebrate not only what they have achieved so far, but the impact they will continue to make in their communities for years to come.”

The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA)
In addition to recognizing the newest class of Eagle Scouts, the evening also celebrated two recipients of the National Eagle Scout Association Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA), an honor presented to Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and service in their professional and community endeavors following their time in Scouting.
Senator Jonathon Acosta was recognized for his leadership in public service, education, and community advocacy. A member of the Rhode Island Senate representing Central Falls, Acosta has championed investments in education and youth programs while building a career focused on improving opportunities for students and families. A former teacher and school administrator, he earned multiple degrees from Brown University, including a Ph.D. in Sociology, and continues to serve his community through research, advocacy, and civic leadership.
Chief John Potvin was honored for his decades of leadership in both the fire service and Scouting. With more than 33 years in the fire service and his recent appointment as Chief of the Hopkins Hill Fire Department in Coventry, Potvin has dedicated his career to public safety and community service. An Eagle Scout himself, he has remained deeply involved in Scouting leadership, serving as a Scoutmaster, Assistant Council Commissioner, National Jamboree Scoutmaster, and Silver Beaver Award recipient.
Established by the National Eagle Scout Association in 2010, the NOESA recognizes Eagle Scouts who inspire others through their accomplishments, leadership, and service to their communities.
