Rhode Island Weather for January 30, 2026
Morning (7:00 AM – Noon):
A bitterly cold start to the day, with temperatures in the single digits to low teens (around 5–12°F). Skies are mostly cloudy to overcast, and while a stray flurry can’t be ruled out early, conditions remain largely dry. What will be different in the low temps today is the wind – a light northwest to north winds (5–10 mph) will add to the bite, with wind chills near or below zero at times.
Afternoon (Noon – 5:00 PM):
Temperatures struggle to recover, topping out only in the mid-teens to around 19°F. Skies stay overcast to mostly cloudy, and dry weather dominates — no measurable snow expected. With little sunshine and persistent cold, it will feel no warmer than the thermometer suggests.
Evening (After Sunset):
Temperatures drop quickly back into the single digits, with overnight lows expected around 1–10°F. Skies remain cloudy and dry, and the deep cold settles back in. A quiet but harsh winter night, best suited for staying indoors.
Overall Letter Grade: D
This is a classic late-January New England deep-freeze day — brutally cold, mostly cloudy, no snow to “justify†the misery, and no sunshine to offset it. While there’s no storm, the dangerous cold and lack of redeeming weather features earn a solid D.
A Cold Weather Advisory or similar cold-related messaging in the morning underscores just how raw conditions are.Â
