Rhode Island Weather for February 25, 2026
A quick burst of snow will overspread the region from west to east between 5 and 8 am Wednesday morning. The snow will be short- lived and exit the coast by early afternoon perhaps even ending as a bit of rain. However…the burst of snow will coincide with part of the morning commute with a quick 1-2″ of snow and localized 3″ possible. Motorists should be prepared for a period of snow covered roads and reduced visibility for the morning commute. Temperatures will rise well above freezing by afternoon alleviating any issues.
___
Afternoon – temperatures climb into the mid- to upper 30s, allowing the snow to transition to light rain, especially along the coast and urban areas. Skies remain mostly cloudy, and while precipitation stays light, slushy roadways and puddling are likely. Gradual melting continues, but snowbanks and messy conditions persist.
Evening – and overnight, precipitation tapers off with skies remaining mostly cloudy to partly cloudy. Temperatures fall back into the 20s, and any standing water may refreeze, creating areas of black ice on sidewalks, parking lots, and secondary roads. Winds remain light and conditions turn quiet but cold.
Overall Grade: C
Light snow changing to rain will create messy travel and slush during the day, followed by nighttime refreeze concerns.
