ART! Two New Exhibitions and National Show at The Providence Art Club

The Providence Art Club opened two new exhibitions this past Sunday. Tho shows will continue through Thursday, July 16, 2026. The Club’s galleries are free and open to the public.

In the Dodge House Gallery, a two person show, Echoes of Grace, featuring PAC Member Artists Lorraine Hynes and Karen Murtha will be on view.

In the Maxwell Mays and Mary Castelnovo Galleries, the Club will present its annual National Open Juried Exhibition. Juried by Leah Triplett, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the exhibition features 65 works, ranging from paintings, prints, and collage to fiber work, sculpture, and glass.

Of the national show, Art Club Gallery Manager Michael Rose says, “We are excited to host another National Open Juried Exhibition, one of our most popular shows. Every summer this exhibition invites a talented curator to select works by artists from throughout the region and around the nation to be shown in our historic galleries. This year’s show presents pieces that celebrate an exciting array of media. There is something for everyone.”

Echoes of Grace, the companion exhibition to the National Open Juried Exhibition, includes recent paintings in oil by Karen Murtha and immediate past PAC President Lorraine Hynes. Murtha paints imaginative scenes with figures and local landmarks. Hynes focuses on muscular still life work notable for their depth and refinement. Both artists are Rhode Islanders.

The Club will also host a public celebration on Friday, July 10, from 4-7pm when there will be extended gallery and bar hours and many of the exhibiting artists will be present. This event is also free and open to the public and offers visitors the opportunity to visit the galleries after work, learn more about the works on view, and engage with the uniquely artful camaraderie for which the Club is known.

“Founded in 1880, the Providence Art Club is one of the oldest arts organizations in the country. Its three gallery spaces are always free and open to the public and mount new exhibitions every three weeks that feature contemporary work by local makers. The Club also hosts free educational talks with artists each month.
