Planet Fitness Smithfield Donates Equipment to Providence Police Department
Donation aims to support health and wellness of local first responders
Planet Fitness, one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of fitness centers with more members than any other fitness brand, is donating commercial-grade fitness equipment from its Smithfield club to support the health and wellness of local first responders at the Providence Police Department.

This comes on the heels of a donation from the North Providence Planet Fitness last fall. As local clubs update their equipment, they aim to give back to the community.
The Providence Police Department will receive one rower, two treadmills, and one stepmill.
Throughout 2025, local Planet Fitness franchisees donated 74 pieces of commercial-grade fitness equipment to schools, first responders, and town organizations, while 33 clubs participated in the Holiday Giving Trees initiative, collecting 1,800+ gifts for children through Boys & Girls Clubs across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Several local clubs exceeded their giving goals.
