Out & About in RI: Beautiful day for a Protest – No Kings, Providence
Saturday was a beautiful day for a protest with welcoming weather in most major cities in the country that had a “No Kings” event planned. Here are photos of the protest at the RI State House in Providence. A “Free Palestine” protest at Providence City Hall took place, with participants walking up to join the larger group.
How many people? One reporter opined 32,000 – and that figure was consistently repeated. One needs to recall the “massive BLM, George Floyd” protest in downtown Providence had an estimated 10,000 people. Other independent estimates were 5,000, and over 1,000 – so, it’s anybody’s guess.
Boston Common organizers estimated 1 million, but others said “tens of thousands”. Anyone who was there with a better guesstimate, or how the day went, just add it in the comments section, below…
Indivisible Rhode Island organized it as chapters did throughout the US. Word-of-mouth certainly helped. Activist groups, and aligned nonprofits joined in the national organizing, with the RI AFT (teachers union), Working Families, the local AFL-CIO and Common Cause, locally, as well as community groups such as Cranston Forward, and Reclaim Rhode Island. The atmosphere in Providence was described as “festive”.
TY, Herb Weiss, for the photos…
NOTE: RINewsToday prints groups of photos from Rhode Island events such as fundraisers, galas, large meetings and events – just sent them along with a paragraph of description to: news@rinewstoday.com

Are you serious ? These are the Democratic Leaders who have and preventing the government from running. I would think they would focus on getting the country up and running.
