Memorial Day activities – “we remember”

Battleship Cove, Fall River – 2 new Vietnam era helicopters and display are now open

Monday, May 29th, 8am to 6pm – Boots on the Ground, Fort Adams Drive, Newport – A patriotic display of over 7,000 boots honoring our post 9/11 fallen service members. A program of Operation Stand Down RI.

Monday, May 29th, 9am – Central Falls Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park. Mayor Rivera, Council President Ferri, city oofficials and community will gather to remember and honor fallen service members. There will be remarks from city officials, an Honor Guard presentation, a wreath laying ceremony, and a gun salute.

Monday, May 29th, 10am – Warwick’s Memorial Day Ceremony – Veterans Memorial Park, outside of Veterans Middle School. Mayor Frank Picozzi and Rep. Camille Vella-Wilkinson, Disabled American Veterans, and Warwick’s Police and Fire Honor Guard will conduct a wreath laying ceremony. A flag retirement ceremony will also take place. The city is asking the public to bring their old and tattered flags. According to the U.S Flag Code: “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”

Monday, May 29th, 11am – Annual Memorial Day Ceremony – Pawtucket Veteran’s Amphitheatre, 175 Roosevelt Avenue. Pawtucket Veterans Council and the City of Pawtucket will remember of all those men and women from Pawtucket who have perished while wearing the uniform of our Armed Services. Participating are: Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien, John Gallo, President of the Pawtucket Veterans Council, Members of the Pawtucket Veterans Council, other local officials

Monday, May 29th, noon – Badger’s Pub – Memorial Day FREE Appreciation Meal for Veteran and a guest – 530 Broadway, Pawtucket

Monday, May 29th, 1pm – State of Rhode Island 49th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony – at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Commemorating the men and women who have died while in military service. Elizabeth Cote, recipient of Rhode Island’s Patriot’s Pen, will serve as the featured speaker.

Monday, May 29th, 2pm – The Providence Public School District (PPSD) and Mount Pleasant High School are excited to announce that members of the Mount Pleasant High School Music Department, The Marching Kilties, under the direction of Band Director Danielle Trial Lucini, will represent Rhode Island in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C.  The National Memorial Day Parade is televised nationwide, beginning at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 29 on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and The CW.

Rhode Island Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery has a new memorial honoring Portuguese and Luso-American veterans.

(RIPTA) will run a Sunday/Holiday service schedule on Monday, May 29, 2023, in observance of Memorial Day.
