THE PROGRESSIVE EXPERIMENT
IT is so hard for me not to be snarky when I see stories like the one I literally JUST READ as I’m sitting down to write today. Front and center in my email… a big story about the insanity going on in Boston with the headline screaming, “Blue cities homicide increase “FLASHING RED WARNING LIGHT” to soft-on-crime experiment”. Well geez… is this really breaking news? Boston has become a destination for career criminals who, outside of murder, are not held accountable for much of anything. Who applauds this? Supports this? Promotes this? The Democrat party used to be a political party, now… it’s a “mental health crisis”.

Progressives come up with many crazy ideas, lunatics support these crazy ideas, donations pour in because of these ideas WHILE MOST OF US KNOW the $hit is eventually going to hit the fan BECAUSE of these ideas. Those of us that pay attention, read, have a decent grasp of history and understand (even if minimally) how society and humans work know, defunding the police and soft on crime policies embolden those who hustle and harm for a living. I mean, you really don’t need to be a smart person to grasp that. Well, guess what? That’s what is happening in Boston. Mayor Wu and her party & political INSANITY is a nightmare for that community and the numbers back that up. Boston is declining. Anywhere there are progressives in power the picture in the rear view mirror tells the story. It’s a trail of drug abuse, homelessness, crime, rape, empty storefronts, murder/violence and poverty.

I think what is really mind blowing for me is watching the absolute dereliction of duty that politicians are exhibiting who live in these communities and govern over these communities. The old timers who want to hold on to their power stay silent while they watch their own party implode from within. THE ONLY POLITICIAN from the Democrat party that has said “oh hell no” with a megaphone to much of this madness has been John Fetterman – someone I trashed for how he presented himself. Remember how he showed up to the Inauguration? Shorts, sneakers and a hoodie. OMG. I almost spontaneously combusted when I saw that. The thing is though… that regular guy in his hoodie and long shorts has more sense and character than any of the well coiffed fake politicians we see on TV. (example… GAVIN NEWSOM. WHAT a scam and a scumbag)

Why do you keep voting for policies that prove to be abject failures? Why do people in RI keep voting for leaders that won’t fund our military during this shut down? (How the hell did JACK REED GET AWAY with voting NO on that???)

How COULD ANYONE vote for MAMDANI in NYC? A hard core anti-SEMITE from a rich family who hates America and wants to get rid of private home ownership and take cops off the streets. I mean… are they all complete ZOMBIES? MORONS? DEAD INSIDE? Seriously… what’s wrong with people who support this madness?

Don’t you get this? They took it. Radical progressives took the party from you… and you let them while they shamed you because of your skin color. I left the party because of this. Well… that was ONE of the many reasons I left the party. I’m not letting ANYONE tell me I’m the enemy because I don’t want children around pole dancing drag queens in thongs who suffer with gender dysphoria or that POLICE ARE BAD FOR OUR COMMUNITY or that I’m a piece of $hit because I’m white. Nah. All set with that.

MY “RUNNING ERRANDS” OUTFITS ARE GETTING WORSE AND WORSE
Way back when I was a know it all 18 year old, I used to look at people who went to Kmart, Ames or Cherry and Webb and think “how do you EVEN leave the house looking like that?” OMG. I’d look at people and be horrified. As for me back then, I was always trying to look as fabulous as possible and never ever ever left to go anywhere without slapping on some “war paint” (my mother’s terminology for make up) and lip gloss. I started out as a little girl, morphed into a TOM BOY, went through the Janis Joplin stage and then before I joined the Army was always trying to look cool, or with it or whatever (my Dr. Martens were a big deal back then) in the group I was partying with. Fast forward to 57, I no longer have a group or the want to try and keep up with this crazy world.

I have been through many stages of “Jen” and this latest stage… I’ll just call it “BAG LADY CHIC”. I still slap on some lipgloss, but nothing matches… I do wear Crocs when lazy and I stuff my hair under hats BECAUSE I HAVE ZERO TIME TO TRY and look “cute” anymore. Not only do I give zero $hits about looking homeless… I have zero energy or want in trying to impress anyone. I haven’t let my self go… per say… I do have some self awareness, but the level of exhaustion I have from everything everywhere all around me is real, A LOT and hoping to be “seen as” is not on my priority list.

Now I UNDERSTAND why older ladies would wear housecoats all day with sandals and maybe toss on a sweater and some “real shoes” if they had to run out for bread and milk. Don’t get me wrong, when I have to pull it together I do, but it’s A LOT OF WORK. I’m not sure if there’s a specific age that this happens at, but I’d say after 55 all bets were off. But hey… that’s me. I’ve known people who won’t ever be seen without makeup and are revolted by the sight of me having lunch with them in mismatched socks, crazy hats, Chuck Taylor high tops, without an ounce of blush.

But look, the point here is… I’m sorry to all the folks who I judged in my early years… and I judged you… believe that. I’m now ONE OF YOU and I get it. It’s nice to not have to live to impress people every second of every day or worry about what they think. I’m just wandering around being exhausted, worn out me doing my thing in my crazy outfits…
There’s peace and freedom in that.
Just sayin’…

Great newsletter, Ms. Jenn. I giggled because I can relate to everything you said…especially the getting older and not caring about dolling up anymore.
Such an effort…and for what and for who?
Those fake lipped, fake eye-lashed and fake assed girlies? Walking around taking their selfies at every turn a hundred times a day? They can judge all they want because we stepped out w/o makeup and in a track suit, at least we are the real deal. Without a need to fake it up for followers. So. Full. Of themselves.
Mamdani is such a liar and I hope the people of NY realize that…otherwise NY will be an even bigger shit show should he win that race.
Boston has become a Community Activist Organization. Rooting for the criminals. A nightmare for sure.

Just FYI my mother dressed me very nicely during my grammar school days ; then 4 years of wearing a school uniform sort of made me dress nicely for college; then you had to make a good impression for work THEN you just didn’t care and now I have to admit who the bloody hell cares!!

Couldn’t believe we actually held important functions in tents with port-o-potties!!! Why wasn’t that remedied long ago?!
Mamdani actually pretended to cry when he told the story about his aunt…had to laugh when he got found out!
I used to give my Mom grief about going out in matching embroidered sweat outfits with a nice wig (remember those days?), makeup and cute tennis shoes. I look at those pictures and compare them to how I run out sometimes and have to admit she looked so together by comparison!
Laura my mother has so many ” track suits” they MATCH!!!! HAHAHA

The mayor that NYC needs is Sliwa… someone who really cares about the city and has for decades. If Cuomo dropped out Sliwa would have a chance… instead, misguided, “I want Free Stuff” people will vote for Mamdani and get to see the destruction of what was once a great city. His tax the rich and corporations will see them moving elsewhere to escape the insanity. Tragic.
As for Springsteen…. Too bad, but he doesn’t care. Not his money and he sold the rights to his music years ago.
