Gimme’ Shelter: Leo waiting at the RI SPCA – Cheryl Tudino

Hi there, I’m Cheryl, a volunteer at the RISPCA in Warwick, full-time treat dealer, poop scoop enthusiast, and unpaid publicist for dogs who deserve way more followers than influencers.

This week I am proud to introduce to you the one… the only… Leo the Lion… I mean dog. No, not the one who roars before the MGM movies…although if Leo had his own movie studio, every movie would end with a happy adoption.

Our Leo is an 8-year-old Retriever mix with leading man charm, soulful eyes, and a heart worthy of an Academy Award. He is a little shy when meeting new people, but once you have earned his trust, you will discover he is one of the absolute sweetest, most loyal co-stars you will ever encounter.

Like every respectable lion, Leo enjoys his kingdom patrols. Long walks are his safari, where every blade of grass deserves a thorough investigation. After a successful stroll through the safari, he is happy to retire to his stuffed bed or yours for a well-earned siesta. He also loves car rides and has earned rave reviews as the perfect gentleman on Doggy Day Outs with our shelter volunteers.

This Leo isn’t looking for the bright lights of Hollywood-he’s looking for a peaceful home he can settle into at his own pace. He would thrive with a BFF who is patient, loving, and understands that trust is earned, not rushed.

He is dog selective and has not had the chance to meet cats or children, so slow introductions are the key to helping everyone live happily ever after.

The famous MGM Leo the Lion may have started every movie with a mighty roar…but our Leo’s greatest performance will be stealing your heart and perhaps your bed. He may not roar like the MGM legend, but he will make your soul roar with pure happiness. ROAR!
