Gimme’ Shelter: Ricardo, very friendly kitty, at Providence Animal Control Center

Well hello, I was found as a very friendly kitty who was left behind when my family moved out. Can you imagine? I was so sad without food or water for a while.

When I came to PAC I was so happy and comfortable, but I kept missing the litter box. One morning, I seemed to be in a lot of pain, so off to the ER I went! I had blood in my urine and super painful crystals that I would pass every time I would pee, hence why I was in so much pain. Thankfully, I was put on meds and given fluids to help me “go” easier.

I also got to hang out in foster care with an actual veterinarian over the New Year’s holiday! I had an excellent time! I am feeling so much better and I am neutered now.

I am outgoing and super friendly and pretty bomb proof considering all I have gone through. Just in case, I should be on prescription urinary food and have access to all of the water I want! (Fountains and elevated bowls and lots of canned food) Please consider me, I am only one year old and I can live with other cats who are on the same food as me!

“If you can see me, I am still available! No phone calls please, everything is done online and we do need an application submitted and approved before scheduling a visit. We differ from other shelters by offering a one on one experience between you, our staff and the animal or animals you’ve chosen to become a new family member! Please email [email protected]*

About the Providence Animal Control Division

The Providence Animal Control Division protects the health and safety of our residents and their pets with progressive leadership and education, and continues to engage the hearts and minds of the community to help all animals.

Since 2015, the Animal Control Division has adopted a “low risk euthanasia” philosophy of healthy adoptable animals and will continue to improve the live release rate of shelter animals via adoptions, returning strays to their owners, transferring animals to rescues, TNR, programs/services and treating medical cases. We believe that with progressive programs, we can have a more humane City. Through our Gimme Shelter program, PAC is spaying and neutering owned and feral cats for Providence residents. To participate please send a message through our Facebook page at Providence Animal Care Center.
