Caroline Caprio Scholarship and Giving Fund

The Caroline Caprio Scholarship has been established to provide funds to help Rhode Island residents with brain tumors.

The Scholarship pays for doctors’ visit co-pays, Uber transportation costs, and food delivery. If we have a student in RI that wants to pursue becoming a Neurosurgeon, there may be assistance for tuition.

An Advisory Board has been established and fundraisers to help those with brain tumors are being held.

When asked why the fund was established, Caroline responded, “Why am I doing this? First I want to spread awareness that Rhode Island has the second largest number of brain tumors in the nation.  Second, I am a brain tumor survivor, myself.  I would like to spread awareness and let people know there is help.  We are a nonprofit and all monies raised go to the patients.

The mission of the Fund is to educate and empower brain tumor patients and assist medical students researching brain tumors through monetary and spiritual support. In this process we will generate more awareness for this cause in hopes of inspiring others to support it with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. Your generous donation will fund our mission!

About Caroline Caprio, President

Carolina Caprio retired from the DOL Workers Comp division after 33 years.  During retirement one day, she heard the unimaginable. YOU HAVE A HUGE BRAIN TUMOR –  you need a craniotomy within 48 hours. After her recovery from brain surgery she was appointed Fundraising Chair to the RI Brain & Spine Tumor Foundation, raising close to $70K  with her “dream team.” In July 2019, Carolina became president of the Caroline Caprio Scholarship & Giving Fund board of directors.
