I spoke to a colleague and collaborator of mine in the mental health sector yesterday. He told me something which I thought was very profound. The pandemic we lived through and are still dealing with was – and is – heinous!
I agree 100 percent. My mom even passed in 2020 because ot it.
My friend and colleague said this: “Covid was a pandemic and brought to the surface the pandemic that has been overlooked and stigmatized for years – mental illness .” I have to say that was profound in my mind ! As someone who has gone down that black abyss of mental illness and attempted suicide in December of 2019.
We as the human race cannot shy away from what happened to us in this pandemic. We must look it in the eye and find ways to recognize, manage and overcome it! In addition to strengthening the health of our bodies, we must strengthen our ability to rise above – our resiliency – our mental fitness.
This is why I wrote my second book “There’s Light in the Tunnel “ a very real and raw story of going through it and rising above!
This is why today I’m a keynote speaker.
This is why I’m working on my first TedX talk.
This is why I explain the 3 pillars to people however, and wherever I can. What are they?
1. Proper exercise
2. Proper nutrition
3. Proper mindset programming
The medical world has studied that these 3 elements will aid in recovery of mental illness challenges – and our physical being will be stronger as well – and better able to withstand an attack from physical illness – be that a cold, an inopportune infection, or – a pandemic.
