Out & About in RI: A Wish Come True Raises Over $700,000 at Ripples of Love Gala

A Wish Come True raised over $700,000 at its 2026 Ripples of Love Gala Presented By Massey and Associates, bringing almost 500 supporters to the Crowne Plaza Pavilion in Warwick.

The Gala honored Frank and Colleen Duffy with the 2026 Lifetime Impact Award, recognizing decades of service, generosity and compassion for children and families facing life-threatening illnesses.

The evening brought the meaning behind Ripples of Love to life.

Wish Mom Diana Rodrigues joined Billy Gilman for a special performance that kicked off the night with love and inspiration. Throughout the program, guests heard about A Wish Come True’s mission of granting magical wishes and the support that continues before, during and after the wish through its Embracing Families programs.

As one donor stated, “I’ve been to and been involved with many galas over the years, and I can honestly say this was one of the most heartfelt, mission-focused events I’ve experienced.”

A major part of that support is the Meghan K. Duffy Hardship Fund, which Frank and Colleen helped establish in memory of their daughter, Meghan. The fund has provided more than $220,000 in assistance to 243 wish families, helping with essential needs such as groceries, utilities, housing expenses, transportation and car repairs.

The evening ended with a special surprise for Frank and Colleen that brought Meghan’s story full circle.

Meghan, who passed away from cancer at age 11, had wished to create a stuffed animal that could comfort other children with life-threatening illnesses. Nearly two decades later, A Wish Come True revealed that her wish was coming true. In partnership with My Special Aflac Duck, the organization introduced the Duffy Duck program, carrying Meghan’s love and legacy forward to help other children.

The moment captured the message of the entire evening: A Wish Come True goes far beyond the wish. Families become part of a community that continues to stand beside them through the challenges, milestones and moments that follow.

“This night was absolutely filled with an aura of love in the room that truly inspired the Ripple Effect to be in motion. I am so very proud of our growth and momentum to help support these amazing families,” stated Mary-Kate O’Leary, Executive Director.

The funds raised will help A Wish Come True continue granting magical wishes and providing critical resources and support to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families throughout Rhode Island, Central and Southeastern Massachusetts and Eastern Connecticut.
