Back-to-School in RI: Backpacks with School Supplies Giveaway at Providence Place

Providence Place will distribute 300+ Backpacks and School Supplies at Back-to-School Community Giveaway

Providence Place, Skills for Rhode Island’s Future, Centreville Bank and Local Nonprofits will come together to help Rhode Island students start the school year prepared.

Providence Place’s Back-to-School Community Giveaway will take place on Saturday, August 15 from 10am to noon, providing more than 300 free backpacks filled with school supplies to help local students prepare for the new school year.

Presented in partnership with Skills for Rhode Island’s Future and Centreville Bank, the event will bring together community partners from across Rhode Island for a morning focused on supporting students and families as they head back to school.

Families can receive a free backpack filled with school supplies, no purchase required. Backpacks will be distributed while supplies last.

In addition to the backpack and school supply giveaway, several Rhode Island nonprofit organizations will be on-site with tables where families can learn more about programs, resources and opportunities available in the community. Participating organizations include:

• Project GOAL

• Providence Children’s Museum

• Books Are Wings

• Youth In Action

• Back to School Celebration

The event is part of Providence Place’s continued effort to serve as a gathering place for the community and connect Rhode Island families with organizations working to support children, education, and opportunity across the state.
