Burn with Kearns: NAD+, Energy, and the Future of Recovery – Kevin Kearns

Week 4: NAD+, Energy, and the Future of Recovery
MY PERFORMANCE EDGE
Everybody wants more energy. But very few people ask the bigger question:
Where does energy actually come from? Not caffeine. Not stimulants. Not another energy drink.
I’m talking about actual cellular energy.
And that conversation starts with something called NAD+.
WHAT IS NAD+?
NAD+ stands for Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide.
It’s not technically a peptide. It’s a naturally occurring coenzyme found in every living cell in the human body and involved in:
- cellular energy production
- mitochondrial function
- DNA repair
- metabolic signaling
- recovery pathways
Researchers estimate NAD+ participates in over 500 enzymatic reactions throughout the body.
And here’s where things get interesting:
NAD+ levels naturally decline with age. Some research suggests levels may decrease significantly between our 20s and 50s. That decline is one reason scientists and longevity researchers are paying closer attention to it.
WHY PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT NAD 300 & NAD 600
You’ve probably heard terms like:
- NAD 300
- NAD 600
- NAD IV drips
These generally refer to dosing amounts and delivery methods used in wellness and recovery settings. The reason people are interested in NAD+ research is because it’s associated with:
- mitochondrial energy production
- cellular stress response
- recovery pathways
- metabolic health
- cognitive performance
At a simplified level:
If your cells don’t produce energy efficiently… Nothing functions efficiently.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT MAGIC
This is where education matters. NAD+ is not a “fountain of youth.” It’s not a miracle injection. And no serious professional should market it that way.
The better conversation is this: Researchers are exploring whether supporting foundational cellular processes may help improve:
- resilience
- recovery
- energy metabolism
- healthy aging
That’s a much smarter discussion.
THE MITOCHONDRIA CONVERSATION
Your mitochondria are often called the “power plants” of your cells. Their job is to convert nutrients into usable energy (ATP). NAD+ plays a major role in that process.
And as mitochondrial efficiency declines:
- recovery may slow
- energy can decrease
- metabolic flexibility changes
- fatigue increases
People often think: “I’m just getting older.” Maybe. Or maybe your cellular systems are simply becoming less efficient.
WHY QUALITY MATTERS MORE THAN HYPE
Now let’s take the gloves off a little. This industry is exploding right now. Unfortunately, so is misinformation.
People are buying products online with no understanding of:
- sourcing
- manufacturing
- concentration
- purity
- quality control
That’s dangerous.
At BWK Authentic Edge, one of the concepts we discuss constantly is: B.P.C.
Biologics. Potency. Concentration.
Because anybody can throw letters on a label. The real questions are:
- What’s actually in it?
- Is concentration verified?
- Is it manufactured correctly?
- Is the facility regulated and inspected?
Those are the questions educated consumers should be asking.
COMPOUNDING VS PHARMACEUTICAL-GRADE MANUFACTURING
This is another conversation people need to understand. There’s a difference between:
- products compounded from multiple sourced ingredients and
- products manufactured in controlled pharmaceutical-grade environments.
That distinction matters tremendously. Especially when discussing biologics, peptides, stem cells, exosomes, and regenerative therapies. The European manufacturing standards surrounding:
- GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
- GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)
- EMA oversight
Represent some of the strictest quality-control environments in the world. And that level of consistency matters. Because with biologics small differences matter.
EDUCATION FIRST. ALWAYS.
This article is not about selling anything. It’s about helping people understand:
- why these conversations are happening
- why quality matters
- why recovery science is evolving
- why consumers need to become more educated
The future of health and performance may not simply be: “Train harder.”
It may become: “Recover smarter.”
EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS COMING TO NEW ENGLAND
Over the coming months, we’ll be hosting educational workshops throughout New England discussing:
- peptides
- NAD+
- stem cells
- exosomes
- recovery science
- longevity
- functional performance
Not hype. Education. Because people deserve better information than: “I know a guy.”
FINAL THOUGHT
Your body is either:
- repairing or
- breaking down
Most people wait until they completely crash before they pay attention.
The smarter move? Learn how the system works before that happens.
