Babies ages six to twelve months took center court, crawling their way toward the coveted Rhody Baby Race title while thousands of fans cheered them on. This year’s race featured participants from across Rhode Island and neighboring communities, all showcasing determination, personality, and plenty of adorable moments that energized the crowd.
The Winners’ Circle
After a photo-finish crawl, South County Health is proud to announce the top finishers of the 2026 Rhody Baby Race:
- 1st Place ($1,000 529 College Fund contribution): Luke Okrasinski (Chris & Kelly Okrasinski)

- 3rd Place ($250 529 College Fund contribution): Luca Giuliani (Michael & Ashley Giuliani)
- Finalists (4th-8th Place) each received a $100 529 College Fund contribution.
South County Health supported every participating family by awarding a 529 College Fund contribution to each baby who participated in the race, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to supporting families and investing in the future health and success of the community.
“This event is a celebration of family, community, and the bright futures ahead for these children,” said Martha Moe, MD, Medical Director, Center for Women’s Health, South County Health. “We’re proud to support families at every stage of life, and the Rhody Baby Race is a fun and meaningful way to highlight that commitment. It’s one of those moments that’s just pure joy. It brings families together, makes people smile, and celebrates the very beginning of life.”
In year two, the Rhody Baby Race is now a highly anticipated tradition for URI basketball fans, delivering memorable moments both on and off the court. Fans and families gathered along the sidelines to cheer on participants, capturing photos and videos of the exciting race.
“Whether it’s a baby’s first race or a family’s first visit with us, we’re honored to be part of their journey,” said Dr. Moe.
South County Health remains dedicated to promoting wellness, supporting families, and creating opportunities that positively impact the community.
