Trevor J. Griffin Appointed Assistant U.S. Attorney in Rhode Island

Trevor J. Griffin has been appointed an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Rhode Island, First Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles C. Calenda announced Monday.

The appointment brings Griffin back to the office, where he previously served as a legal intern during his third year of law school. In that role, he worked on civil and criminal matters, drafted motions, briefs and legal memoranda, and represented the federal government in court proceedings under attorney supervision.

“Trevor Griffin’s civil litigation experience, commitment to public service, and dedication to serving the people of Rhode Island make him an outstanding addition to our Civil Division,” Calenda said. “We are pleased to welcome him back to the office.”

Griffin most recently worked at Morrissey, Hawkins & Lynch in Boston, representing clients in complex civil litigation in state and federal courts. His work included preparing complaints, motions, discovery materials and other court filings.

His earlier legal experience included internships with the Massachusetts Senate Committee on Ways and Means and Fidelity Management & Research. Before attending law school, Griffin worked as a senior associate in the Tax Group at CBIZ & MHM in Providence, advising private equity and venture capital clients on tax-compliance matters.

Griffin earned his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law, where he participated in the Community Business Clinic and provided legal assistance to small businesses, entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Rhode Island. Griffin is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
