RI Weather Today, Friday 3/20/20:
By Jack Donnelly, meteorologist
Finishing this forecast up a minute or two ahead of the Vernal Equinox, where the Sun’s direct rays fall on Earth’s equator. This year it occurs at 11:50pm EDT.
Given this fact, Friday will have something of a Spring feel, higher than normal temperatures with morning lows in the low 40’s and afternoon highs in the mid to upper 60’s and some morning rain and mist to give early vegetation an early drink. Cloud cover should stick around, although should thin just a bit by late afternoon and evening, but not soon enough to catch some late day rays. That’ll have to wait for the weekend. Winds out of the southwest will be up a bit, some gusts in the 20-30 mph range for some added Friday drama, blowing in the new season.
Happy Spring!
