President Joe Biden has COVID
The White House announced this morning that President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID.
He is experiencing mild symptoms. He has been prescribed Paxlovid, according to Dr. Ashish Jha, formerly of Brown Medicine who is now the COVID czar for the Biden administration.
President Biden has had a history of AFib and a stroke as well as two surgeries for brain aneurysms and is of advanced age that would be cause for concern in contracting COVID. He is, however, fully vaxxed and boosted.
He is said to have not slept well and is experiencing mild symptoms such as a runny nose and being tired.
President Biden was just in Somerset, MA for a press conference on climate change after flying into T. F. Green Airport and being met by Gov. McKee, Sen. Whitehouse and Warwick Mayor Picozzi.
According to media reports, Governor McKee said he is not isolating at this time. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, who has tested positive recently (June) is also not isolating. Both will monitor for symptoms.
Mayor Picozzi’s office was contacted – he has tested negative. We’ve asked if he has received any guidance from the White House – his response has not yet been received.
Note: The new variant – Ba.5 is spreading faster than any other variants and said to be more contagious and less impacted by the vaccine and boosters received. However, the vaccines and boosters are shown to keep COVID less severe and more manageable.
This is a developing story
