Your RI Weekend Weather Wrap – Feb. 12/13, 2022 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Saturday 2/12/22:
A weak cold front stays mostly to our west through the day allowing for southwesterly breezes ahead of the front to keep the warm air flowing in. Afternoon highs will work through the 50’s and push 60 somewhere in the state, then fall back to around 40 later in the evening as the front moves through and winds shift to northwesterly.
Sunday 2/13/22:

Low pressure that will have developed along the southeastern US coast moves towards our area but stays largely offshore, so we won’t catch the brunt of the action, just the northwest fringe elements, which means some light morning snow amounting to about an inch or so. We’ll have afternoon highs hovering around the freezing mark and dropping to evening lows in the mid 20’s with a light breeze generally out of the north.

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards, not away from, thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst where the McCabe’s, Donnelly’s, Walker’s and Callan’s have been since after the Civil War.
