Your RI Weather Today, Nov. 12, 2021 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
A warm front snuck in overnight and brought the first instances of light rain to the area, which should continue until the midday hours, when bouts of heavier rain will occur ahead of the approaching cold front. We’ll have high gusty winds as well from the south and southwest to drive the rain in at angles. Once the cold front passes, rain will cease, thinking around 5-6pm. Winds will then shift to westerly and then northwesterly as the evening progresses.
Morning and evening lows in the mid 50’s around afternoon highs in the mid 60’s.

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards not away from thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst where the McCabe’s, Donnelly’s, Walker’s and Callan’s have been since after the Civil War.
A meteorologist, John also is an avid golfer, runner, reader, hack guitarist, and walker. If you see a weatherman walking in a blue Jim Cantore weather jacket carrying an umbrella, look out!
