116 colleges come to Bishop Hendricken for RI’s largest private college fair

Bishop Hendricken High School will host 116 colleges and universities from across the United States this Friday, September 15, 2023 from 8:30am-10:15am at the largest private college fair in Rhode Island.

Organized annually through the School Counseling Office exclusively for Hendricken students, the College Fair is in its 57th year. Visiting schools range in size from fewer than 2,000 students to more than 15,000 and represent private, public, and Catholic colleges and universities located in the Midwest, mid-Atlantic, South, and New England. Representatives from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and the Rhode Island Army National Guard will also be in attendance to recruit for military service. This year, and for the first time, representatives from West Point will be here interviewing students who have applied to the Academy. A full list of attending schools can be found below.

“Year after year some of the finest colleges and universities return to Hendricken because they love our students and the representatives appreciate that they really get to interact with motivated, college-bound seniors, juniors, and sophomores,” said Nicole PoloskiDirector of School Counseling. “This year, we’re using StriveScan, a student scanning technology, which will make it even easier for college representatives and Hendricken students to stay connected. It’ll also give the School Counseling Office analytics and data on each attending school to help enhance our college planning efforts.”

Beginning next week, more than 40 college representatives will begin meeting exclusively with Hendricken seniors in small groups — both virtually and on campus. Some of these schools include Boston College, Dartmouth, Columbia, and Wake Forest that, in addition, have scheduled days in September and October for student meetings.

“Each year, I’m amazed at the growing number of colleges and universities who want to begin their recruiting right here at Bishop Hendricken,” said Mark DeCiccio ’03, Principal. “Sincere thanks goes to all the college representatives who will be joining us, as well as the faculty and staff that put this together, especially our Registrar, Natalie Turner,” said Mark DeCiccio ’03, Principal.

“We are thrilled to welcome over 100 colleges to campus to meet exclusively with our students,” said Natalie Kessimian, Assistant Principal who oversees the School Counseling Office. “Our school counselors have been working tirelessly, not only to prepare this wonderful event, but also to develop meaningful relationships with the schools in attendance and put our students ahead of others.”
