Your RI Weekend Weather Wrap – Feb. 5/6, 2022 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Saturday 2/5/22:
High pressure begins to fill the void left behind by the ice storm as cloud cover decreases. Afternoon highs reach only the upper 20’s with a northwesterly gusty breeze, and evening lows drop to the teens.
Sunday 2/6/22:

High pressure spends the day on a cross-southern New England tour. Plenty of sun initially with some afternoon clouds spilling in. A cold winter morning with lows in the single digits warms only to the upper 20’s with relatively calm air, so wind chills not a major issue.

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards, not away from, thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst where the McCabe’s, Donnelly’s, Walker’s and Callan’s have been since after the Civil War.
