Your RI Weather Today, September 28, 2021 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteoroloogist
A cold front sweeps down from the north and provides the stimulus for periods of light rain anytime from morning to evening. There will still be some dry air in place, so much of the rain will evaporate before reaching ground, so intensity will remain light.
Temps will range from afternoon highs ahead of the front in the low 70’s to evening lows behind the front in the low 60’s with light breeze generally out of the west with a bit of a shift from southwesterly to west-northwesterly as the front passes later in the afternoon.

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards not away from thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst where the Mccabe’s, Donnelly’s, Walker’s and Callan’s have been since after the Civil War. A meteorologist, John also is an avid golfer, runner, reader, hack guitarist, and walker. If you see a weatherman walking in a blue Jim Cantore weather jacket carrying an umbrella, look out!
