Your RI Weather Today, Jan. 24, 2022 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
Weak high pressure hangs out for most of the day before low pressure developing over the Great Lakes mosey’s on in and generates some light snow later on in the evening. We are not expecting much in the way of accumulation, maybe a dusting by midnight.
Morning lows in the low to mid 20’s rise to the low 30’s before cloud cover rolls in and puts a stop to the rising temperature. Winds will be light and generally from the north, eventually shifting to southerly in the evening with the approach of the low.

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards, not away from, thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst where the McCabe’s, Donnelly’s, Walker’s and Callan’s have been since after the Civil War.
