Your RI Weather Today, April 21, 2022 – John Donnelly
by John Donnelly, meteorologist
High pressure shifts a bit to the southeast, so winds will shift from light and variable in the morning to once again brisk and gusty in the afternoon, this time out of the south. Additional cloud cover will reign in sunlight warmth, and with a reasonably dry cold front approaching, we may have a very slight chance for some overnight light showers.
Morning lows annoyingly cold, bottoming out in the mid to upper 30’s warming to afternoon highs in the upper 50’s with that south-southwesterly wind gusting towards 30 mph.

John Donnelly was born in Hialeah, Florida and moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Johnston, where he grew up until graduating from Lyndon State College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. As a child John always wanted to know how air moved, and he ran towards, not away from, thunder and lighting and various other ominous weather phenomena. He returned in 2001 to the old family neighborhood of Elmhurst where the McCabe’s, Donnelly’s, Walker’s and Callan’s have been since after the Civil War.
