Warwick Figure Skaters Holiday Show Donates 600+ Pounds of Food to West Bay Community Action Food Bank
Warwick Figure Skaters held its annual holiday show at Thayer Arena, and collected more than 600 pounds of nonperishable food donations for the West Bay Community Action Food Bank.
The show featured holiday-themed figure skating routines by student-athletes from communities throughout Rhode Island, along with performances by all six Warwick Synchro teams. Attendees donated nonperishable food items in lieu of an admission fee.
“Teaching our student-athletes the importance of service and community is just as important as what happens on the ice,” said Katie McKenzie, director of the Learn to Skate program. “These donations reflect the true spirit of the holiday season and our continued commitment to the Warwick community.”
Teams from Warwick Synchro earned medals in the 2025 Boston Synchronized Skating Classic at the Skating Club of Boston recently, when more than 145 teams participated in a three-day event, with judges from across the United States officiating the competition. Synchronized skating is the fastest growing discipline in figure skating. Skaters are assigned to teams based on their skill level and age.
Warwick’s Preliminary team earned a silver medal, competing in a field of eight. The Aspire 2 team earned a gold medal, while the Aspire 1 and Aspire 4 teams both earned silver medals. Warwick also fielded two Open Juvenile teams, which placed eighth and 11th.
“[These] results are a testament to the hard work and perseverance of our student-athletes, their coaches and parents,” said Kristine Wilkinson, head coach of Warwick Synchro. “It has been very difficult preparing six teams to be competition ready with limited ice time. I am so proud our skaters’ dedication to each other and the sport as they’ve sought out additional practice time throughout the region.”
Individual team members are practicing at rinks throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts this season due to the closure of one ice rink at the Warwick complex.
Founded in 1970, Warwick Figure Skaters is a nonprofit organization based at the Thayer Sports Complex in Warwick. It is a member club of U.S. Figure Skating and supports more than 400 skaters of all ages and skill levels across Rhode Island.

Warwick Figure Skaters is also the home club of Warwick Synchro, the state’s only competitive synchronized skating program. The organization has fielded teams for more than 40 years, including sectional and national champions. Warwick Synchro’s program is open to both experienced and new synchronized skaters and has produced international and world medalists.
WOW – Nice Going – Congrats on that!
Holiday Blessings!
