Warm-a-Heart Gingerbread Kits Will Make a Perfect Gift – Sale Supports 16 Food Pantries

The Warm-A-Heart Gingerbread Program is a collaborative Rhode Island community initiative between Ellie’s Eatery, Gracie’s, Brown University Health, Dave’s Markets, and City Year Providence. This year, the program is on track to raise $50,000 through the creation and sale of Gingerbread decorating kits, assembled by volunteers and sold in select Dave’s Market stores, Ellie’s Eatery, and Brown University Cancer Centers.

The Warm-A-Heart Gingerbread Program presented FeedRI with a $16,000 donation to fund an in-school food pantry at their season kick-off event at the FeedRI headquarters in Rumford, RI on November 8th – just in time for needed food replenishing given the SNAP debacle.

Volunteers brought gingerbread kits and bags of essentials (food, water, socks) with them. Attendees included program partners and representatives from City Year Providence and Bayview Academy.

For 16 years, the Warm-A-Heart Gingerbread Program has served the Rhode Island community through monetary donations and the annual purchase of essential supplies that support students and families in need. The Warm-A-Heart Gingerbread Program is a kindness movement that wraps the community in a warm embrace over the holidays. It starts with a team of compassionate bakers from Ellie’s in Providence who spend hours baking thousands of gingerbread people and continues with volunteers from diverse organizations and businesses across Rhode Island assembling Warm-A-Heart Gingerbread decorating kits. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the kids go to families in need.
