To Do in RI: Roller Disco. Volleyball, Dodgeball and Pickleball at The Providence Rink

It’s the return of Roller Disco at the Providence Rink from now through October 31. Residents and visitors are welcome to enjoy themed roller-skating nights, live DJs and new family-friendly programming.

Roller Disco will be hosted every Thursday and Friday from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM and the first Saturday of each month, weather permitting. The transformed rink features colorful disco lights, curated DJ sets and seasonal themes. This year’s series will also host Family Skate Days on select weekends and Learn-to-Skate workshops designed for beginners of all ages.

“Summer in Providence is a time to come together as a community, enjoy the outdoors and take advantage of the vibrant, creative energy that defines our city,” said Mayor Brett Smiley. “Roller Disco at the Providence Rink has become a summer tradition, bringing together neighbors of all ages. Events like this activate our Downtown and reaffirm our commitment to making Providence a more welcoming and connected city for everyone.”

“Roller Disco at the rink is about creating meaningful experiences that bring people together,” said Brant Gawrys, Director of Athletic and Event Facilities for the Department of Parks. “Whether you’re lacing up skates for the first time or reliving childhood memories, this event encourages residents to stay active, enjoy our beautiful Downtown and connect with neighbors. It’s a celebration of community and the vibrant energy that makes Providence special in the summer.”

Cost

Admission is $9 for adults and $6 for children, with skate rentals available for $9. Season passes can be purchased for $65 (adults) and $45 (children under 12 and seniors). Super Fun Activities Club for adult sports

Operated by the City of Providence’s Department of Parks, the Providence Rink is a year-round space for accessible, inclusive recreation and community programming. Located Downtown, the rink now features several key upgrades designed to enhance the skating experience, improve sustainability and ensure the space remains a year-round destination. The improvements include a new cold floor, a state-of-the-art chiller system and clear dasher boards with a new fabric shade array. This innovative addition is designed to enhance climate resiliency, improve infrastructure and elevate the aesthetic appeal of the area while creating a year-round destination for recreation, programming events and community gatherings.
