To Do in RI: 40th Annual Columbus Day Festival, Friday through Monday
The Federal Hill Commerce Association is presenting the 40th Annual Galbani Columbus Weekend Festival, happening October 10th – 13th, 2025, in the heart of historic Federal Hill. Stretching from Dean Street to Sutton Street on Atwells Avenue, this beloved tradition presents something for everyone to enjoy.
They are thrilled to welcome back the fan-favorite La Cucina Galbani Cooking Stage located at America Street and Atwells Avenue, serving up live demos and delicious inspiration all weekend. Enjoy over 80 food, art, retail vendors, family-friendly games and amusement rides. Three live entertainment stages will fill the avenue with nonstop vibrant performances throughout the weekend.
Don’t miss the flavors of Federal Hill – more than 26 restaurants that offer expanded seating and special dishes just for the celebration. A sampling of participants includes Trattoria Appia, Venda Ravioli, Saje Kitchen, Providence Oyster Bar, Cafe Italia, and Cassarinos.

Opening Ceremony
This year’s opening ceremony will take place at 12 pm on Saturday, October 11th at the DePasquale Plaza stage.
At the opening ceremony of the 40th Anniversary Galbani Columbus Weekend Festival on Federal Hill in Providence, we proudly honor individuals whose dedication and spirit embody the heart of our community. The Grand Marshal leads the celebration, representing the pride and tradition that continues to define Federal Hill. The Legacy Award pays tribute to those whose lasting contributions preserve the culture, heritage, and vitality of our neighborhood for generations to come. The Vincent A. Cianci Jr. Civic Award recognizes individuals who exemplify the late mayor’s commitment to civic duty, community growth, and the strengthening of Providence’s cultural fabric. Finally, the Foodie Ambassador Award highlights those who champion Federal Hill’s culinary excellence, showcasing our neighborhood as a world-class dining destination. Together, these awards reflect the values, traditions, and flavors that make Federal Hill a true treasure in Rhode Island.

Wine Tasting
The annual Renaissance Wine & Galbani Cheese Tasting returns Saturday, October 11th from 5:45-8:15 pm at the La Cucina Galbani Chef Demonstration tent. Located by 312 Atwells Avenue the tent will feature 70 different wines to taste as well as various cheeses from Galbani. This is the only event that requires a ticket and you must be 21+ to attend.
Chef Demo Stage
The Festival features an unforgettable weekend filled with culinary delights! Head over to the Galbani Cheese Demonstration Stage, where talented chefs will be showcasing their skills with live cooking demonstrations. Experience the magic of various cuisines as they prepare mouthwatering dishes using the finest Galbani cheeses. Whether you’re a foodie or just looking for a fun time, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy fun demonstrations and learn some tips from the pros! The Galbani tent is located at America Street on Atwells Avenue next to Roma.
