The business of making dreams come true – A Wish Come True and the Cerrone family
Al and Katie Cerrone Rent out Movie Theatre for 185 Wish Families to see Disney’s Wish Movie
A Wish Come True, the oldest wish-granting organization in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, recently hosted nearly 200 family members to attend the “Disney Wish” movie, at the Showcase Cinema de Lux in Warwick, graciously rented by Al and Katie Cerrone.
“Sponsoring an event for A Wish Come True is not a business decision. It is a pleasure. It’s a privilege, but more importantly, it’s an honor. I ask all of my business colleagues to consider sponsoring an event for this worthwhile organization. Unlike other events, this donation gives witness to the happiness that brought into these families’ lives. I encourage others to do the same, you will be glad you did,” stated Al Cerrone.
AWCT Executive Director Mary-Kate O’Leary said, “we have been partnering with Al and Katie over the last two years. Katie’s restaurants, KC Burgers and Mac’s Original Pizza Pub, have hosted and sponsored Wish Families for birthday parties. To see wish families have a night out and not have to worry about buying food and presents is priceless. Katie and Al are role models for other businesses on how small things can go a long way in making a difference.”
One parent stated, “I have 7 children. We could never afford to see a movie and have popcorn and a drink for all. These A Wish Come True people just care deeply about all of us.”
Katie Cerrone, stated, “As a mother of three, I can relate to the chaos having children can bring, but it is difficult to imagine what these parents go through when they have round the clock appointments and care that is needed. If I can take the stress off another mom by offering dinner at one of my restaurants, I can see her actually sit and be present without worrying about what food will need to be prepared. Others can help as well.”
A Wish Come True grants wishes and provides resources to families that have a child struggling with a life-threatening illness living in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Last year, they celebrated their 40th anniversary and granted 43 wishes to children and their families. This was a significant jump from granting 19 wishes the previous year. They already have 15 wish children waiting for their magical wish in 2024 and they are funded through the generosity of the community.
