Senior Agenda Coalition of Rhode Island 2025 Legislative Leader’s Forum – “Uniting Voices for Meaningful Advocacy”

The Senior Agenda Coalition of Rhode Island (SACRI) is hosting the annual Legislative Leader’s Forum, “Uniting Voices for Meaningful Advocacy” a pivotal event focused on shaping the future of aging, policy and legislative work in Rhode Island.

This forum will take place on March 14, 2025 at 8:30AM at The Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI.

This year’s forum will serve as a crucial platform for presenting the SACRI a legislative agenda to address the evolving needs of older adults and adults with disabilities. Key areas of focus include healthcare, long-term supports and services, economic security, housing, and community supports.

“Uniting Voices for Meaningful Advocacy” is the opportunity to gather the vital voices in the aging space to set forth a plan for 2025 on the local, state and federal level,” stated Carol Anne Costa, Executive Director of SACRI.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand Legislative Priorities: Representatives from the leadership of the House and Senate will address 2025 legislative priorities and the impact on older adults and adults with disabilities.
  • Question and Comment:  Attendees will have the opportunity for questions and answers regarding legislative priorities.
  • Witness Participatory Governance: Observe a session of the Special Legislative Commission to Study and Provide Recommendations Pertaining to Services and Coordination of State Programs Relating to Older Adult Rhode Islanders, chaired by Representative Lauren Carson.
  • Strengthen Community Networks: Build relationships and foster collaboration among advocates and policymakers.
  • Gain Insights from the 2025 RI Healthy Aging Data Report: Hear a presentation of the highlights of this forthcoming report.

Maureen Maigret SACRI, Policy Advisor indicated, “To be part of the rollout of the 2025 Healthy Aging report directly from Dr. Elizabeth Dugan, presents a valuable occasion to present hard data to the public and lawmakers alike. This data is critical to mapping out a path forward to serve RI’s aging population in a meaningful way.”

Presented by Delta Dental of RI, the forum will also highlight the importance of and access to and healthcare providers, including oral health, for older adults and adults with disabilities. “We are so pleased that Delta Dental is this year’s presenting sponsor, as oral health is critical to people as they age.” said Kathy McKeon, SACRI Board Chair. Joseph R. Perroni, President & CEO, Delta Dental of Rhode Island, agrees, “At Delta Dental of Rhode Island, we are committed to making oral health care accessible and affordable for all Rhode Islanders, regardless of age or ability. That’s why we’re proud to support the Senior Agenda Coalition and its mission to improve the quality of life for older adults and adults with disabilities. Oral health care is a critical part of overall health, and by working together, we can help ensure that all Rhode Islanders receive the care they need to live healthier lives,”
