Senior Agenda Coalition event to secure a senior-friendly Rhode Island budget

The Senior Agenda Coalition of Rhode Island invites you to attend their annual Legislative Leaders Forum on Wednesday, March 22nd from 9:45 to 11:15 AM at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick.

The group announces that the RI Speaker of the House Joseph Shekarchi and Senate President Dominick Ruggerio will be attending, and the group will be asking them to support their 4 priority budget requests:

Higher salaries for workers providing care for seniors

Improvements in the state’s senior services information & referral system

More staff for senior protective services

Assistance with Medicare premiums for moderate-income seniors

Testimony and questions from the audience will be welcomed. Admission is free, but advanced registration is requested at this link:

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/555341049027

How It Works:

1) We will open by describing our 4 priority budget requests: higher salaries for workers providing care for seniors; funding for major improvements in the state’s information & referral system; more staff for senior protective services; and assistance with Medicare premiums for low and moderate-income seniors. (We will share these “asks” with the legislative leaders well in advance)

2) We will hear in-person stories, selected in advance, from seniors affected by each of the priorities.  We will also have some written questions from the audience as time permits.

3) Finally there will be responses from The Speaker of the House and The Senate President to our requests and our issues.

How You Can Help: Join the group and, if possible, bring a friend or two. You also can help identify someone, including yourself, who would be willing to attend and share their story about the need for these investments in seniors. If so, please have the person e-mail to [email protected].

You can also register by going to Senior Agenda’s website www.senioragendari.org and clicking the registration link, while learning more about the group

See you on March 22nd!

Time to mobilize the aging community/baby boomers and advocate for better care, tax relief, & an “age-friendly” vision for RI!

There are many seniors in our state who are retired state employees. Despite providing the citizens of R.I. with many decades of service, these individuals have had the promise of receiving Cost Of Living Adjustments (COLAS) broken by our states leaders. It is time for the state to honor its commitment to these seniors who face increased medical costs (Medicare Premiums) and other living expenses.

This country priorities are not American seniors ? It’s illegal ALIENS that they put more emphasis on , and who can dispute that ?
