Ron & Jen’s Great Escape, 9-21-22 – Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien

WILL WE EVER “GET ALONG?”

During the riots in the 90’s sparked by the beat down of Rodney King, the famous line “can’t we all just get along” was uttered by King himself before he died. King, died years later from “accidental drowning” brought on by PCP, alcohol, and cocaine use. He was found at the bottom of a pool. Really, a tragic end to what had to be a hard road of a life. I think about that statement from time to time. When I see people screaming at each other over minor infractions in the Walmart parking lot, to the evening news and the divisive political climate, crime rates, media hating on white America, white America trying to adjust to being the villains for literally everything, black America trying to forge their way, gay America trying to forge their way, Asian Americans dealing with waves of hate crimes, Progressives shaming anyone who isn’t on board with their agenda, women’s sports being hijacked, toxic masculinity, babies being aborted at 9 months, loving God under attack, fat America is pissed, the economy is a mess…illegal immigration is a mess…etc., etc., etc.

“Can’t we all just get along?” Yea, that’s funny. The folks in power want to make sure we don’t get along. Trust me. Shangri-La is not the end game. Control and power are. I wish this wasn’t true, and somehow, we could figure it out, but we won’t and frankly it’s getting worse. I know this is a downer of a column, but look, its reality. Not every moment has to be focused on the MACRO. I get it. You have a life and seek peace. Me too, but at some point, we all have to make decisions to take a stand and take some power back. I have always had an open mind and open heart. I was a Democrat for many, many years before changing to Independent voter status. I just got tired of being a pawn for them. So, it’s ok to have different opinions even when they say you shouldn’t. It’s ok to see things differently, it’s ok to not agree, say no, and not support other people’s views on how our communities and the country should be run. “Occupy Wall Street” saw Nancy Pelosi say, “dissent is American”. Now, it seems like she’s changed her tune. Right. That’s how they roll in D.C. – they can think whatever they want, but want to tell us what to say and think.

I have faith that WE ALL KNOW (those who care) what the real deal is out here…we really do all “want to get along” – believe THIS if nothing else. That terrifies the folks in power. TERRIFIES THEM.

Stay strong. Show patience. It’s better than getting HEATED as the young kids like to say now (translation=ANGRY)

Till next week my friends,
Jen

LET THE HOLIDAY SEASON BEGIN!

The Halloween decorations have started to go up in the Chez St. Pierre neighborhood. So, let’s take a look at this year’s top trends for costumes to get you in the mood.

– Witches are always popular but with the Sanderson sister witches back for HOCUS POCUS 2… which was filmed in Rhode Island… you can’t go wrong there.

– Big Screen and binge worthy TV characters usually roam the hood. From STRANGER THINGS, TED LASSO to YELLOWSTONE along with classics BEETLEJUICE, THE ADDAMS FAMILY AND THE MUNSTERS.

– Clowns… Penny Wise is creepy!

– The Classics – Chucky, Freddy, Jason, Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolf Man

– Zombies… especially traveling in herds

Not so popular this year? POLITICAL FIGURES… thank goodness

THE NEXT HOLIDAY SHORTAGE?

Berry bad news heading our way? See what we did there? Droughts in the Bay State are impacting cranberry production this year which means they could be absent from your Thanksgiving Day dinner. Of course, we’re talking fresh cranberries. I’m sure there will be plenty of the canned jellied jobbers if that’s in your cornucopia.

THE THRILL IS GONE

Maybe BB King’s standard should be the new theme song for Walt Disney Theme Parks. Recent polls and surveys suggest Disney World fans are numb to the magic these days. Respondents say the park is too expensive for most families with 92% saying a Disney World vacation is out of reach for the average family. The price of a ticket has increased an astounding 3,871% since 1972. A single ticket today ranges between $109 – $159 per day.

Jen….Your comments are spot on. It’s so sad that humans cannot seem to get along these days. Obviously everyone has differet opinions on “whatever”. but that does not translate to hating everyone. I just don’t understand things these days. It would be kind of a boring existence if everyone thought the same way, However, why can’t we all just get along. It breaks my heart to see such hate.
