Is the truth REALLY out there? A House committee is hoping to get to the bottom of things! The House Intelligence Committee’s subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence and Counterproliferation (say THAT three times fast) started an open Congressional hearing today to talk about Unidentified Flying Objects. It’s the first such hearing on UFOs in 50 years! Democratic Indiana Congressman Andre Carson is leading the hearing and says there’s a need to look into the threat to national security posed by UFOs. If THEY are coming (or are already here waiting) we just hope they’re the ET type and NOT those in the classic TWILIGHT ZONE episode TO SERVE MAN!

SAY HELLO TO CAPTAIN NEMO
An NBC News survey suggests President Joe Biden’s approval rating has sunk to new depths. Just 39% of American’s approve of the job Biden is doing with a whopping 56% giving him a thumbs down (I guess the remaining 5% are too numb to vote). Just 33% of Americans saying they approve of Biden’s handling of the economy as inflation soars at a 40 year high, while only 23% approve of his handling of the cost of living.

“PRINT IS DEAD”- Dr. Egon Spengler is 1984’s GHOSTBUSTERS
Egon’s prophecy of 38 years ago took another step closer to reality with the news PEOPLE magazine is about to end its weekly print edition as its new owners look to slash costs. The 48 year fixture at grocery lines and airports may not have been Papa Hemmingway’s work, but it sure did help pass the tedious hours on flights. Another one bites the dust.

SILLY SEASON’S RAMPING UP
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Helena Foulkes started TV advertising this week, becoming the first candidate in her party to crack the airwaves with just under four months before the primary. The former CVS exec’s been busy fundraising with a reported $1.5 million in her campaign coffers. She’s one of three Democrats challenging incumbent Governor Dan McKee come September 13th along with Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea, former Secretary of State Matt Brown, and community activist Luis Daniel Munoz. Foulkes needs to get out ahead as she lacks name recognition. She’s the second candidate for RI governor to hit the TV screens as Republican Ashley Kalus has already spent hundreds of thousands on her “get to know me” campaign.
