Ron & Jen’s Great Escape, 3-16-2022 – Ron St. Pierre & Jen Brien

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I recently read that the UN Secretary General said that nuclear war is definitely “not out of the realm of possibility” when it comes to the crisis in Ukraine. After reading this I thought, “can I even prepare for such an event?” – “Should I ?” – “How on earth could I prepare without an underground shelter?” I’ve been looking into the safety of storage containers as they’re legit, the only thing I could afford at this point with inflation and all. Turns out that’s not a viable option. Instead, I decided to order a couple cases of Chef Boyardee and hope for the best. I mean… would I really want to live underground for years with the 1% after a nuke attack? Could I handle not having fresh air and birds to watch and a sunrise to wake up to everyday? Could I really deal with the idea that what I’ve known my whole life had ended and most of my friends wouldn’t be there next to me? Well, the answer is “no”. So, here’s the deal – I’m going to take my canned raviolis with me, and head north should something ever go down. They always tell you to “Head NORTH!” Don’t know where I’d end up, but it sure as hell would be better than the future at that point. I agree it’s surreal to even be saying this stuff, but to quote the great philosophy of PRINCE it’s the “Sign of the Times”. Good song, btw. PS – don’t forget the can opener…

First off, congrats to both the Bryant Bulldogs and the PC Friars for making it to the BIG DANCE! March Madness is underway and it’s one of the biggest events of the year when it comes to sports wagering. The American Gaming Association estimates about 45 million people will throw some scratch down on the NCAA Tourney.  Combined , they’re expected to wager a grand total of $3.1 BILLION… Yup… that’s BILLION. That’s triple the amount wagered on last year’s Super Bowl.

WHY WE’RE LOVIN’ DOLLY

Dolly Parton has taken her name out of consideration for this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because she doesn’t think she deserves it. Parton said on social media, “I do hope the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again – if I’m ever worthy.” Dolly says the consideration has inspired her to put out a great rock and roll album in the future, something she’s always wanted to do. It is, after all, the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. Too bad Dolly didn’t catch Joan Baez’ ear 5 years ago.
