Ron & Jen’s Great Escape – 10-12-2022 – Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien
by Ron St. Pierre and Jen Brien, commentary
CAN I STILL SAY, “GROW A SET?”
The world has become so stupid these days with everyone offended about everything. I mean, a mouse farts and its offensive to “climate activists”. You cheer on a female soccer player at a high school game and yell “that a girl” and the parent of a trans student takes offense and complains. We are offended over writers, thinkers, free speech activists. We are offended about hot cereal boxes and maple syrup bottles. We are offended by T- shirts, opinions and politics. We get offended if someone looks at us in a world where people are clamoring to be seen. We are offended by art. We are offended by faith. We are offended by criticism, rules and authority. We are offended by “American Exceptionalism”, patriotism, and traditions. I could go on and on and on. How pathetic.
You know, we aren’t really offended by these things. We’re not. RATIONAL people know this. (I’m sure THAT statement just offended someone!). Truth is, everything has been weaponized. Folks need “safe spaces”, “comfort animals” and coloring books. Naps at work, a crap ton of “positive reinforcement” and “participation trophies”.
It’s literally like millions of people need their hand held daily to get through the day which is confusing because these same people want to be taken seriously and tell me what my politics should be and how to think about the world, Meanwhile, they’re working out of their parent’s basement, smoking weed, and not paying a dime of rent. Ok, maybe a gross over generalization, but you get the point I’m making. It’s an interesting time for sure. While we are offended by all these things and so much more, we are NOT offended by sin, violence, Satan, sexual Indoctrination of toddlers, Christian bashing, the murder of babies, political corruption, cancel culture (is it true KELLY RIPA is really bashing REGIS?) etc., etc., etc.
Look, I’ve said this a million times…but I’ll say it again today. I’m super open minded. I was a registered Democrat my whole life until this woke insanity just went too far. I don’t have to be right and I’m open to ideas. I love to talk about issues that affect us all and sit back and listen to differing opinions. I care a lot about justice and equality. I am a proud Army Vet and American who loves this country, its founding fathers and the people who gave us the freedoms we now enjoy today.
Problem is, If you’re not in lock step with the minority, you’re demonized or cancelled. This is dangerous. All I can say is, if you don’t have balls, “grow a set”. Vote, respectfully disagree, and hold your ground. Election Day is coming.
2 words, friends, “Made in America”.
That’s so great. Thanks Joe.
Till next week my friends,
Jen

BLOOD IN THE WATER
You think you’ve been bombarded by political ads for the race to replace Jim Langevin in RI’s 2nd congressional district? To quote Bachman Turner Overdrive, “you ain’t seen nothing yet.” A Boston Globe/Suffolk University poll give Republican Allan Fung an 8-point lead over Democratic candidate Seth Magaziner. That’s the first poll to give Fung the lead outside the margin of error. A Roger Williams University/ WPRI poll out last week had Fung leading by 6 points which was within that poll’s margin of error. With now less than 30 days before the general election, expect BOTH sides to ramp up spending as the national GOP sees the opportunity of flipping a congressional seat that’s been blue since 1991. At the same time, Magaziner must do all he can to gets democrats to “come home” and build a base among indy voters. The pool of undecideds isn’t very deep with the Globe’s poll saying 13% and the WPRI poll just 9%.

THE ROCK SAYS NO
A presidential run for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is officially off the table. The BLACK ADAM star telling CBS SUNDAY MORNING that being a dad comes first. Johnson telling Tracy Smith “I love our country and everyone in it. Also love being a daddy. That’s the most important thing to me. So THAT’S what the Rock is cooking!
___
INFLATION MEANS FUN SIZE BARS
Looks like fewer houses will be giving out those coveted full size candy bars this Halloween. The cost of Halloween candy is expected to soar by 34% compared to a year ago. And while prices are increasing, some candies are shrinking! Hershey reduced 18-ounce packs of dark chocolate Kisses by about 2 ounces but, of course, the price didn’t go down. Mars candy prices have been raised the least so load up on Three Musketeers, Milky Way, Snickers, Twix and Skittles.

SPOKESMEN
Why would ANYONE think I’ll suddenly go to Taco Bell for breakfast because Pete Davidson says I should or buy a sub from Jersey Mike’s because Danny DeVito tells me too?
