Homeless in RI: Emergency overnight sites, drop in shelters, and warming locations

This list was created by putting together information from a variety of sources, none of which was complete on its own. As we learn of new resources, it will be updated – check back often.

In a crisis, call the local police department. If there is no shelter in their city/town, many are opening the station lobby to take people in. Or, call 211. Call 911 in a medical emergency.

Emergency Winter Hubs

• East Providence – Robert E. Rock Senior Center, 610 Waterman Ave.
  • Open: Monday, February 17, 7 PM – Monday, February 24, 7 AM
    • Operation hours are pending forecast and volunteer availability.
    • Community members MUST arrive before 8:30 PM.
    • This is not a meal site – beds only.  
• Newport – MLK Center, 20 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd. (enter Edward St)
  • 7pm to 6:45am daily – through end of March
