RI Weather Today – Oct. 2, 2020
by Jack Donnelly, meteorologist
An area of low pressure will roll through during the day with some widely scattered and sporadic showers hitting during the midday hours. Given the low relative humidity in the lower levels, you’ll see some of the rain shafts falling from the cloud base and evaporating before hitting the ground, a phenomena called ‘virga’. Whatever rain we get should come to an end with clouds clearing out quickly before sunset. We’ll feel a bit cool through the day, afternoon highs only in the 60’s with a northwesterly breeze from morning lows in the low to mid 50’s.
