RI Weather Today – Jan. 29, 2021
by Jack Donnelly, meteorologist
Low pressure STILL hanging around offshore kicks back some light snow showers for Cape Cod and southeastern New England during the day, less cloud cover otherwise for the rest of us as the day progresses. Our big issue will be the coldest air of the year so far oozing in from southeastern Canada with high winds…..a recipe for painful wind chills, particularly in the early morning as low temperatures drop to the single digits and winds gusting to 30 mph resulting in wind chills around 10 below zero! Afternoon highs…if you can call them that….will struggle and most likely fail to reach 20 with a brisk northwesterly wind gusting towards 40 mph.
